Space Race is a secondary concept derived from a collection of images taken while I was attached overseas in a school programme. The project was to embrace the overseas experience and bring it back home, highlighting the differences and learning from them. The project was then fleshed out and brought into a local context based on my discoveries.
NEGLECTED SPACE
Originally the project took the form of a publication titled Neglected Space which highlights spaces or objects which go unnoticed, however, the publication was a medium I chose to showcase these spaces and hopefully bring them to light.
SPACE RACE
Enter, Space Race, a social platform application which focuses on its users to find interesting places in their place of living to explore and visit. Its objective is to get people to get out and find quirky spaces to take photographs at. These spaces serve as points of interests for both tourists and locals to visit - off the usual grid.
The application makes use of a point rewarding system to motivate and give incentive for users to explore. It also allows users to claim the space as their own whilst defending their claimed spots from other users who may want to claim it for their own.
